Privacy Policy – Snake Neon
Effective Date: September 28, 2026
Welcome to Snake Neon ("the App"), developed by VirtualBox Development ("we", "us", or "our", vbdev.ro). This Privacy Policy applies to our mobile application available on Android (ro.vbdev.snake) and iOS (ro.vbdev.snake). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how our App handles local gameplay data, online leaderboard data, device permissions, advertising, and user data deletion.
1. Overview & No Account Required
Snake Neon is a casual arena mobile game where players steer glowing candy snakes, gather orbs, swallow smaller rivals, and defeat the end-of-round boss. The game is fully playable offline without an internet connection.
The App operates without user registration, sign-up, or accounts:
- We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, password, or social media profile.
- There are no login or sign-in forms anywhere in the App.
- To enable optional online leaderboards, the App automatically generates an anonymous random player identifier on your device. This identifier is used solely to link your leaderboard scores to your game install.
2. On-Device Storage & Local Gameplay Data
Most gameplay data and user configurations are stored strictly locally on your device in private application storage:
- Stored Information: Local currency (coins balance), upgrade tiers (Start Level, Speed, Magnet, Coin Bonus), unlocked snake skins, and game settings (sound effects, music, virtual joystick, haptic feedback).
- Control & Deletion: Local data remains on your device and can be removed at any time by clearing the App's data in your device system settings or by uninstalling the App.
3. Online Leaderboards & Server-Side Data
When your device has an active internet connection, the App communicates with our self-hosted game server located in the European Union (https://appstore.vbdev.ro) to participate in optional global and daily leaderboards:
- Data Transmitted and Stored:
- A randomly generated anonymous installation identifier.
- A chosen player nickname (defaults to a generic handle such as "Snake1234", customizable in the game-over screen).
- High scores, highest round reached, snake level, snakes eaten count, and match duration.
- App version and platform (Android or iOS) for leaderboard validation.
- Security & Encryption: All communication between the App and our server is encrypted in transit using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (HTTPS/TLS).
- No Personal Data: We do not collect, request, or store any personal identifiers, emails, contacts, or real-world identity data on our servers.
4. In-App Data Deletion Mechanism
Because our game server maintains an anonymous score record for online leaderboards, we provide an immediate, self-serve data deletion option within the App:
- How to Delete Your Data:
- Open the App and tap the Settings gear icon.
- Under the DATA section, tap "Delete my online data".
- Confirm the action in the prompt.
- What Happens: The App immediately sends a deletion request to our server, permanently removing your leaderboard scores, nickname, and server record. Your local guest credentials are cleared so that any future online interaction will start with a fresh anonymous identifier.
- Local Progress: Deleting online data leaves your local offline progress (coins, upgrades, and skins) intact on your device.
5. Device Permissions & Hardware Access
Snake Neon requests only minimal device capabilities necessary for gameplay and advertising:
- Internet & Network State Access: Used to retrieve ad content and submit/fetch optional online leaderboard scores.
- Vibration / Haptic Hardware: Used to trigger tactile haptic patterns during gameplay events (eating orbs, level-up milestones, clashes, and button taps). Can be turned off at any time in the in-app Settings.
- No Sensitive Permissions: The App does not request access to precise or coarse GPS location, camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, or file system storage.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Snake Neon displays rewarded advertisements (e.g. to revive once per round or to unlock a snake skin) and occasional interstitial advertisements between rounds, powered by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK):
- Data Processed by Google: Google AdMob may collect and process device advertising identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID / AAID or Apple Identifier for Advertisers / IDFA, subject to your tracking permission), IP address, device technical specifications, and ad interaction metrics to serve, measure, and—where consented—personalize ads.
- No Sale of Personal Data: We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.
- Third-Party Policies: To learn more about how Google processes advertising data, please consult:
6A. Analytics and Crash Reporting (Google Firebase)
To find and fix crashes and to understand which parts of the game are used, Snake Neon uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics:
- What is collected: anonymous usage events (for example: a round started or ended and its round number, level and score, an upgrade bought, a skin unlocked, a revive used), crash and error reports (stack traces, device model, operating-system version, app version), and a random Firebase installation identifier. We do not add your name, email or any other personal information to these events, and there is no account to link them to.
- Consent: Firebase collection is switched off when the App starts and is only switched on once the consent flow described in Section 7 allows it. Where you decline consent, no Firebase analytics or crash data is collected. You can change your choice in Settings > Privacy Settings where it is shown.
- Who processes it: Google acts as our data processor for Firebase. See Firebase Privacy and Security and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Purpose: app stability, bug fixing and improving game balance. We do not use this data for advertising and do not sell it.
7. Consent Management & Privacy Controls (UMP & ATT)
We provide transparent privacy controls in accordance with regional regulations:
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland (Google UMP): For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the App presents a consent dialog certified by the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF), managed via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Personalized ads are served only if you grant consent.
- Changing Your Privacy Settings: You can review or modify your consent choices at any time by navigating to Settings > Privacy Settings inside the App (visible whenever privacy choices apply to your region).
- iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS devices, the App displays Apple's native App Tracking Transparency prompt. The IDFA identifier is accessed only if you explicitly choose "Allow". If you choose "Ask App not to Track", ad personalization is disabled.
8. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
For users residing in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, our processing of data relies on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): For personalized advertising and tracking identifiers managed through the UMP consent flow. You may withdraw consent at any time via the in-app "Privacy Settings".
- Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): For delivering non-personalized advertisements to support free gameplay, protecting game security, preventing score fraud on public leaderboards, and maintaining operational reliability.
9. GDPR Data Protection Rights
Under the GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the following rights:
- Right to Erasure: You can immediately delete your server leaderboard record using the in-app "Delete my online data" button in Settings.
- Right of Access & Rectification: You can verify your score and update your public nickname at any time within the game interface.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory data protection authority. In Romania, the supervisory authority is:
Autoritatea Națională de Supraveghere a Prelucrării Datelor cu Caracter Personal (ANSPDCP)
B-dul G-ral. Gheorghe Magheru 28-30, Sector 1, cod poștal 010336, București, România

10. Children's Privacy
Snake Neon is a general-audience game intended for players aged 13 and older (or 16 and older in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@vbdev.ro so we can promptly delete the data.
11. International Data Transfers
Third-party services integrated into the App (Google LLC) may process data in the United States and other jurisdictions where they operate. These transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
