Welcome to Phoenix File & Photo Recovery ("the App"), developed by VirtualBox Development ("we", "us", or "our"). Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how our App handles your data, permissions, and privacy when you use our file recovery services on your Android device.
1. Local Storage Traversal & File Data
Phoenix File & Photo Recovery operates entirely on-device. All scanning algorithms, file indexation, image thumbnail previews, and file restoration routines process your device's internal storage and SD card locally.
- No Cloud Uploads: We do not transmit, upload, backup, or mirror your photos, videos, documents, audio clips, archives, or contacts to any external servers or cloud services.
- No Content Tracking: We do not inspect, analyze, or harvest the contents of your recovered files.
- Local Access Only: The storage permissions granted to the App are strictly used to perform file scanning and restore operations requested directly by you.
2. Device Permissions Required
To perform its core file recovery functionalities, Phoenix File & Photo Recovery may request the following system permissions:
- MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Enables the deep-scanning engine to traverse file directories and restore deleted files to your device's local directories.
- READ_CONTACTS / WRITE_CONTACTS (Optional): Required only if you choose to scan for deleted VCF phone book entries and restore contacts back to your device.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to display scanning progress and completion status in your system status bar.
3. Third-Party Services & Advertising
The App may utilize trusted third-party SDKs to provide advertising, in-app purchases, and performance diagnostics:
- Google Play Billing: Processes secure in-app purchases and subscriptions for Phoenix Pro. All payment info is processed directly by Google Play Store.
- Google AdMob: Serves ads within the free tier. AdMob may use device identifiers (advertising ID) to serve non-personalized or interest-based advertisements in compliance with Google policies.
- Google Analytics for Firebase / Crashlytics: Collects anonymous telemetry (such as crash reports, app start events, and device OS version) to help us improve stability and performance.
4. Data Retention & Security
Because all recovered files remain exclusively on your device, we do not maintain databases of your personal data. Disabling permissions or uninstalling the App immediately halts all App operations. We recommend using device-level security (PIN, fingerprint, or password) to protect your local files.
5. Children's Privacy
Our App does not target or knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect updates in app functionality or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
